Fodor's Expert Review La Cave
With walls strewn with Niçois memorabilia, this restaurant (established 1989) is where locals go to satisfy a craving for Provençal classics. Choosing from the affordable set menu (€34), you might start with a plate of farcis (stuffed seasonal vegetables) before tasting an aïoli (cod with vegetables and garlic mayonnaise) or perhaps veal with black chanterelles. Desserts, such as crème brûlée or chocolate mousse, neither surprise nor disappoint. As the name suggests, wine plays a starring role here and you can choose from all the great French regions (including some worthy Provençal bottles).
