Fodor's Expert Review Dolce Chantilly

Rte. d'Apremont, Vineuil-Saint-Firmin, Hauts-de-France, 60500, France

Surrounded by forest and its own 18-hole golf course, this sleekly modern hotel—1½ km (1 mile) northeast of the château—has a glitzy marble-floor reception hall that is not quite matched by the guest rooms: in such a vast new building, these rooms seem a bit small, but they are satisfyingly functional and fit into the contemporary style of the place. Lunch is served at Le Swing, a brasserie in the golf clubhouse; deluxe restaurant La Carmontelle, with Chef Dorian Wicart at the helm, provides gastronomic fare in a formal dining room with views of the Chantilly forest.

PROS

  • great facilities, including fitness rooms and indoor-outdoor pool
  • ambitious restaurant
  • stylish public areas

CONS

  • rooms lack character
  • overall the place can feel impersonal
