Fodor's Expert Review Philip-Jardin de Pétrarque
If you want a truly regional experience, take a seat on the shaded terrace of Restaurant Philip, opened in 1926 by Philip's uncle. Set apart from the other eateries, it's just before the trail to the spring. Enjoy the river views and dig in to some cuisses de grenouille (frog's legs) or trout from the Sorgue cooked in white butter sauce, or pink trout marinated in olive oil. A three-course menu goes for only €27, and there's a decent regional wine list. Sandwiches, salads, and ice cream can be ordered next door at Bar Glacier.
