Fodor's Expert Review Le Miramar
A Marseille institution, this restaurant is justifiably famous for its bouillabaisse, and is one of the best places to sample the city's fabled dish. It maintains a '60s style of red-velvet-and-wood-paneling elegance (you almost expect to spot Jackie O. in a pillbox hat at the next table) but the portside terrace tables cut through the stuffiness. Unlike many seafood restaurants in town, it always has bouillabaisse on the menu, so you don't have to order in advance. Desserts are spectacular, thanks to an innovative pastry chef, and with a chilled bottle of Cassis it is truly a dining event.
