Owner Fabien Rugi's passion for seafood may come off as gruff, but that's only because he wants his customers to appreciate his Mediterranean-inflected seafood dishes as much as he does. He puts his formidable energy into serving the freshest seafood, prepared comme il faut. Choose your fish from the fresh catch of the day on ice or let the waiter steer you—either way, you can't go wrong. The grilled shrimp to start are too good to have with anything but a squirt of lemon, and the sea-anemone beignets—a house specialty—should not be missed. Follow up with a grilled baby squid or Rubi's version of fish 'n' chips: fried hake with crisp chickpea-flour pancakes (a Provence specialty) and house-made aioli. The well-priced wines flow freely, and everyone is happy as a clam.
