Fodor's Review

This charming vintage bistro next to the Seine was easy to overlook until the Costes brothers—famous for stylish brasseries such as Café Marly and Georges—worked their magic on it. With a terrace that extends across the cobbled pedestrian street and a few modish touches in the turn-of-the-20th-century dining room that was once a boulangerie, Chez Julien is now one of the Marais's hippest spots. The steep prices for rather ordinary food reflect this transformation, so you might decide to skip the starters, linger over a thick steak with crisp shoestring fries or roast farmer's chicken with baby potatoes, then head into the Marais for ice cream or gelato.
