Hôtel de Fleurie

32–34 rue Grégoire de Tours, 6e, Paris, 75006, France

The perfect Rive Gauche location and reasonable rates distinguish this cozy hotel on a quiet street just off busy Boulevard Saint-Germain, the neighborhood's main artery. Close to the covered Marché St-Germain and a short walk from Luxembourg Gardens and Notre-Dame, the hotel strikes a comfortable balance between century-old charm and up-to-date amenities.

room

The rooms' traditional decor provides an unpretentious, authentic French experience and handsome wood paneling, makes rooms feel more cozy than small (and standard rooms are small). All rooms have coffee and tea-making facilities.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Comfy beds come with blankets, not duvets, which will please those with feather allergies but still seems old-fashioned.

bathroom

Clean, spacious bathrooms come with a bathtub and shower and all the modern amenities.

lobby

Beamed ceilings and stone walls add a pleasant atmosphere in the petite common areas, where you can lounge in a leather chair and watch the world go by or sip a glass of wine before going out in the evening.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The Wi-Fi signal is not always strong in the rooms, but is usually better in the lobby.

dining

A standard buffet breakfast is served in a small, perfectly pleasant basement dining room.

If you don't feel like spending 13 euros on breakfast at the hotel, pop over to Gérard Mulot, a Paris institution, or Pierre Hermé, both a few minutes away, for a famously crispy croissant, pain au chocolat or chausson aux pommes to enjoy under an old chestnut tree in the Jardin du Luxembourg.

drinking

A small lobby bar offers wine and a few spirits and a welcoming lounge to enjoy your drink and a snack (which you can import from the many wonderful markets in the neighborhood).

LOCATION

Getting Around

Odéon and Mabillon metro stations are a few minutes' walk from the hotel. Across the Seine, the Louvre-Rivoli station takes you direct to points on the Champs-Elysées. Just off the bustling Boulevard Saint-Germain, you're in the heart of Left Bank life, buzzing with sophisticated boutiques, cafés, and restaurants, and close to many not-to-miss sites. Within minutes of two historic churches—Eglise de Saint-Germain and Saint Sulpice—you're only steps from the Luxembourg gardens and museum and within an easy walk of Notre Dame. Great restaurants, cafés, and wine bars abound and the flâneurs among us will never tire of the discoveries to be made on foot, both near and farther afield.

Restaurants

Minutes from the hotel, Le Comptoir du Relais is a favorite small bistro, outdoor dining, a big mirrored menu of the day and plenty of fresh bistro salads, a wonderful country terrine, and hot dishes done with bistro king Yves Camdeborde's usual flair. Get there at noon or before to snag a table for lunch; reservations for dinner should be made in advance. Tiny Le Timbre (the "postage stamp") is a wonderful little find, serving up high-quality bistro fare in a charming atmosphere. For a quick, budget meal, try the Breizh Café, a favorite Paris crêperie on a charming street just minutes away.

Bars

Freddy's Wine Bar (next door to Semilla on the rue de Seine) serves up meticulously sourced natural wines and delicious small tapas plates for snacking, or you could try the more upscale La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels (3-minute walk) for a good wine selection. For cocktails, Tiger is a stylish place to sip a yummy craft cocktail or the Prescription Cocktail Club (both within a 5-minute walk). But those sentimental for the Paris of Satre, Beauvoir, and Hemingway may just want to sip a glass at the Café Flore or the Deaux Magots (just across the Boulevard Saint-Germain).

WHY WE LIKE IT

You'll lack for nothing at this small Left Bank hotel, which makes a clean, comfortable, and well-priced home base and offers the kind of service that makes you feel right at home.
