Fodor's Expert Review La Petite Folie
44 rue Haute, Honfleur, Normandy, 14600, France
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
Charming simply doesn't suffice to describe this beautifully renovated 1830s town house, a stone's throw from Honfleur's old port. Lavished with antiques, no luxury has been spared in appointing its rooms; design credits here read like an A-list of Paris notables, including fabrics by Pierre Frey and Porthault linens. Despite the lovely period details, lodgings feel perfectly à la mode, and the sleek, modern bathrooms are equipped with glassed-in showers—except for the roomy La Directoire, which sports a capacious claw-foot tub. For those seeking a bit more space or privacy, the half-timber 14th-century sea captain's house next door has three apartments, each more lovely than the next; the giant windows in the all-white top-floor suite offer a view to the water and give the feel of an artist's loft. Add to all this a delightful garden and "folie" terrace out back, and the magic's complete.
