Fodor's Expert Review Café de la Table Ronde
The second-oldest café in France, this was a favorite haunt of Henri Beyle (aka Stendhal) as well as the spot where Choderlos de Laclos sought inspiration for (or perhaps a rest from) his 1784 Liaisons Dangereuses. Traditionally known for gatherings of les mordus (literally, "the bitten," or passionate ones), the café still hosts poetry readings and concerts and serves dinner until nearly midnight.
