Fodor's Expert Review Les Ursulines

14 rue de Rivault, Autun, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, 71400, France Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.

Placed above the Roman ramparts of the old city, this gorgeous 17th-century convent has been transformed into a delightful hotel, complete with spacious lodgings, an antiques-adorned restaurant, and a splendid, geometric French-style garden. Guest rooms have wood-beam accents and subtle pops of color; ask for one with views of the surrounding Morvan hills. The hotel restaurant successfully delivers ambitious nouvelle dishes, along with old favorites such as snail-filled pastry and seasonal delights like pheasant with chestnut puree.
