Fodor's Expert Review Les Deux Chèvres
23 rue de l'Eglise, Gevrey-Chambertin, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, 21220, France
Once a winemaker's home and later a restaurant, this cluster of stone buildings near the church in Gevrey-Chambertin has been smartened up and now houses a charming boutique hotel. The spacious rooms blend the rustic and the modern, with antique furniture, original artwork, and sleek bathrooms with walk-in showers (the higher-end rooms have tubs as well). The ancient cellar is the perfect place to do some serious wine tasting in the evenings, and the cozy salon (with a log fire in winter) is just the spot to relax afterwards with a bottle purchased from the owner's stock.
PROS
- views of the vineyards from some rooms and on-site wine tastings
- organic produce served at breakfast
- bikes are available for guests
CONS
- no elevator and only one ground floor room
- need to step outside to cross the courtyard to the breakfast room
- rather remote location
