Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Seurahuone
Kaivokatu 12, Helsinki, Uusimaa, 00100, Finland
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Built in 1913, this Viennese-style town-house hotel across from the train station has a loyal clientele won over by its ageless charm and cosmopolitan interiors. A patina of elegance has survived refurbishments and pervades all areas, from the grand main stairway and the chandeliered Restaurant Le Havre serving Finnish cuisine to the ornate, skylighted Bar Socis. Rooms come in many styles, from traditionally furnished with brass beds and high ceilings in the old section to the newer rooms with a sleek, modern design. Standard rooms have slightly larger bathrooms than most "Superior" rooms, though their bedrooms are smaller.
