Fodor's Expert Review Read's
Ivory linens and tall candlesticks decorate the tables in the cream-color dining room, where large windows overlook the grounds of the Georgian manor house containing this assuredly British and elegant "restaurant with rooms." The food is glorious, putting an audacious spin on old favorites–-after a main course of beef fillet with Lyonnaise potatoes, or salmon with chervil gnocchi, try the tonka bean panna cotta with piquant poached rhubarb. The menu's accent falls firmly on local ingredients, many of which come from the vegetable garden, where you can stroll before dinner. Prices are fixed, with three-course lunch options at £32 and a three-course dinner costing £60. After dinner, if you've booked ahead, you can tumble into bed in one of the six guest rooms (£145–£180, or £165–£210 with dinner).
