Fodor's Review

Overlooking a secluded, elongated pond in the hamlet of Bonchurch, a mile north of Ventnor, this quiet, understated restaurant is a good place to gently unwind. The small but polished menu specializes in contemporary cuisine using local ingredients, with dinner options like plaice with foraged samphire and roast chicken with sea kale from island beaches. Lunch is in a similar but lighter vein; dishes include mackerel pâté with cucumber jelly, crab sandwiches, and haddock fish pie. The simply furnished interior is compact and contemporary in style, and there are a few outdoor tables for eating alfresco when the weather permits.
