Fodor's Expert Review Rothay Manor

One of the original luxury hotels of the Lakes, Rothay Manor was recently purchased from previous owners, a family who owned it for most of a century and gave it a loving facelift. All the hallmarks of country elegance and comfort are present:Morris wallpapers, huge, soft beds, a soothing color palette, and roaring fires in the elegant common areas. The crowning achievement, however, is the food: different menus for the kids-and-pets-friendly dining hall and the main restaurant, and inventive terroir-led dishes throughout.
