Exceptionally friendly, this spotless B&B a 10-minute walk from the lake is carefully tended by its kindly owners, who offer plenty of advice on walking and local sights when you want it. Comfortable rooms, all en suite, have metal-framed beds and are decorated in contemporary neutral tones; breakfast is hearty. Good-size family rooms have views across the rooftops to the mountains of Blencathra and Skiddaw.
