Fodor's Review

The Royal Festival Hall is one of London's best spaces for large-scale choral and orchestral works and is home to the Philharmonia and London Philharmonic orchestras. The Queen Elizabeth Hall is a popular venue for top-tier soloists, and the Purcell Room is known for chamber music recitals—although both are closed for refurbishment until fall 2017 (with chamber concerts taking place at St. John’s Smith Square during this period). Free family and adult events take place in foyer spaces around the complex. Southbank hosts everything from the London International Mime festival to large-scale dance performances, plus highly regarded pop, rock and jazz acts. Also part of the complex (but also closed for refurbishment) is the Hayward Gallery, a landmark 1960s building and one of London's best contemporary art venues.
