Fodor's Expert Review Four Seasons Park Lane
Hamilton Pl., Park La., London, W1J 7DR, England See on Map
The premier London outpost of the Four Seasons brand, this luxury Park Lane hotel is a beacon for wealthy guests who like spectacular park views to go with their rooms. Utilising a classic style in the rooms, the real highlight is the 10th floor spa, which offers pampering sessions that come with superb views over Hyde Park.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Park Lane itself is an unattractive, busy intersection so not the most peaceful place to be based. However, Hyde Park’s close proximity is that cloud’s silver lining.
room
Standard rooms are spacious and elegantly staid, while the mixed masculine and light and whimsical suites are impressively styled. Four Season’s signature super comfortable beds come with every room.
If you want to ensure good views over Westminster and the park, opt for a Premier Room. For pure luxury, a suite with outdoor terrace is the way to go.
bathroom
Flower bouquets and black and white photos decorate the sleek bathrooms clad in marble with showers and tubs.
lobby
The amazingly over the top lobby is a display in how to offer a luxury welcome. Marble floors, large flower bouquets, sculptures and rich wooden panelling let you know you’ve arrived. Service is swift and discreet.
spa
Located on the 10th floor, the Four Seasons Park Lane spa is in a class of its own. How does a windowed sauna with views over Hyde Park sound? Or a full body massage looking over Westminster from the rooftop? Facials, pedicures and body treatments are all waiting to spoil you.
gym
Also on the rooftop, the well-equipped gym has everything you’ll need for a workout with a view.
dining
Bathed in bright red swathes of color, the luxe Amaranto restaurant serves refined Italian cuisine with a modern twist.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Park Lane might not be the prettiest street but it spells luxury thanks to its rollcall of luxury hotels. While the wealthy continue to appreciate the triangle of Mayfair, Knightsbridge and St James’ that surrounds Park Lane, high-end boutiques, member’s clubs, car showrooms and fine dining restaurants will keep providing extravagant places to drop serious money. Opposite Hyde Park and close to Green Park, guests can take long leafy strolls. Otherwise, Hyde Park Corner is the closest Underground station or black cabs are omnipresent.
Restaurants
In this neighborhood it’s all about fine dining, so first visit Heston Blumenthal’s Dinner (11-minute walk), for the type of dining experience you won’t forget. Fancy something different but no less gourmet? Then go to Kai Mayfair (7-minute walk) for Michelin-starred Chinese food.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Aside from the chance to be pampered to within an inch of your life on the 10th floor rooftop of a Park Lane hotel, other reasons to love the Four Seasons are the fine attention to detail, unfussy—yet first class—service and ritzy location.
