Fodor's Expert Review Lorne House
London Rd., Box, , Wiltshire, SN13 8NA, England
As an alternative to staying in the city center, Lorne House in the nearby village of Box is a popular boutique bed-and-breakfast option. About a half-hour journey, regular buses run from Bath to a few hundred yards from the hotel's front door. Lorne House was the childhood home of the Reverend Awdry, author of the Thomas the Tank Engine book series; railway aficionados will be able to see the famous Box Tunnel nearby. Rooms are comfortable and surprisingly quiet, given the guesthouse is on a busy stretch of highway. The owners are very attentive and full of advice about the area.
