Prague's 8 Best Hotels Off the Beaten Track
The city center of Prague is quite small, but there are a few properties scattered further afield which are worth a visit--particularly for those who want the "authentic" feel. We've also included a few hotels which are still very central but are somehow just around a corner or down a street that makes them feel a bit less apparent. These are the best areas to stay in Prague--just a little bit off the beaten path.
Mamaison Hotel Riverside Prague
Why it made the list
A lovely riverside view and a good bar are on offer at this business-friendly hotel, which is perched across the river from New Town in slightly in-between location.
Best Western Premier Hotel Kinsky Garden
Why it made the list
On the edge of Mala Strana, this hotel wins points for its green location, right by a park. It is well-located for public transport too, and there is a strip of stores and restaurants leading to the Smíchov district--which is great for shopping--in the opposite direction to the castle.
Appia Hotel Residences
Why it made the list
Appia, a mix of hotel rooms and apartments, is still only a short stroll from the top sights in Mala Strana, but its location on a quiet street behind the district make it feel out-of-the-way.
Prague Hotel Theatrino
Why it made the list
Located in the former city hall in trendy Žižkov, the Theatrino is a tram ride out of the center but allows for the exploration of this increasingly hip neighborhood as well as the key sights of Old Town.
andel's by Vienna House Prague
Why it made the list
Anděl is an unsung district in Prague. Walking distance from the center (along the river), it has great shopping, a more "real-world" feel, and the Staropramen brewery. This hotel is not a bad choice if this district sounds like your kind of thing.
Le Palais Art Hotel Prague
Why it made the list
In a slightly uninspiring location, Le Palais provides its own inspiration with an art theme, lovely views, a glitzy bar, and a spa.
Carlo IV
Why it made the list
While the Boscolo is still only a short walk from Náměstí Republiky, it is on the very edge of the city center and as such belongs here. While its location is not the greatest, it keeps up with Prague's top hotels in all other respects: glamor, a cigar bar, and a gorgeous pool.
Hotel 16
Why it made the list
This friendly hotel is as local and authentic as they come and is tucked away just behind New Town in the pleasant neighborhood of Vinohrady, which has plenty of bars, shops, parks and beautiful architecture in its own right.
