Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Leonardo Prague
Karolíny Svĕtlé 27, Prague, Praha 110 00, Czech Republic See on Map
Along with the usual singles, doubles, and suites, apartments are offered here at this enviable location: a quiet street near the Vltava River. The upbeat and helpful staff is a plus in a city not always known for quality service. There's free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.
The hotel has its own wedding planner.
room
Rooms are modern with art deco flourishes (bentwood armchairs, ornate sconces), in a brown and orange palette.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The four top-floor junior suites look out on the river, Prague Castle, and the Charles Bridge, but note that other top-floor rooms have smaller windows with limited views.
bathroom
Bathrooms have marble tile detailing and soft linens, with nice touches like a small vanity mirror alongside the main mirror.
lobby
The pleasant yellow-beige facade of the hotel is echoed in the lobby, with the signs of the zodiac framed along the reception desk.
dining
The hotel's Platina restaurant and garden is an attractive location inside and out for a spot of modern Czech cooking.
drinking
The restaurant area doubles up as a bar, and supping a glass of wine or a tasty tankard of pivo (beer) in the courtyard/garden area, which has an open air section and a glass roof, is a relaxed start to an evening out in the Czech capital.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Old Town and much of Mala Strana and the castle, and also New Town, are within walking distance thanks to the hotel's enviable location. But you are also close to the Národní divadlo tram stop and not too far (10-minute walk) from Můstek metro stop for other trips. Taxis can drop you off by the hotel.
Restaurants
Restaurant Bellevue (2-minute walk) offers stylish contemporary food and great views. Or, for a change, the slightly shabby Restaurace Kabul (3-minute walk) has tasty and unusual Afghan food, the only restaurant of its kind in Prague.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Hotel Leonardo is a comfortable and well-run hotel in a gorgeous, quiet corner of the Old Town.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, as well as good views and pleasant communal areas, tick basic boxes--don't expect next-level luxury--but considering the number of hotels in Old Town that can't seem to get these things right, the Leonardo is something of a find at this price.
