Prague's 5 Best Hotels for Foodies
Prague is no longer all dumplings and goulash (although there's still plenty of that available--and delicious it is too). There are now many brilliant places serving cuisine from all over the world, both inside the hotels and out. Check out our "Hotels with the Best Restaurants" list for the places that deliver within their own four walls. The hotels on the list below, however, are more about being close to some of Prague's best restaurants and food markets full stop, rather than having them within their own properties.
Hotel Ibis Praha Old Town
Why it made the list
Surprising as it may sound, this chain hotel is great for foodies because of its location on the edge of Old Town. Still close to the foodie delights therein, it is also near the hip Asian restaurant Sansho, which revolutionized the Prague restaurant scene when it opened in 2011. It's also close to an even more recent, and even hipper, cafe, Maso a kobliha (literally, meat and doughnuts).
Emblem Hotel Prague
Why it made the list
For traditional Czech grub and good, fresh beer at good prices, Kolkovna Celnice is just around the corner. For something altogether more special, a short walk away you'll find the new-ish Field restaurant, one of only three in Prague to hold a Michelin star. The tasting menu is unbelievable.
Mamaison Hotel Riverside Prague
Why it made the list
Not only is the Mamaison opposite the Dancing House, which now houses the chic, glass-walled Ginger & Fred restaurant at the top, but it is also very close to Náplavka, a stretch of the river now teeming with pop-up restaurants and beer gardens which also hosts a regular farmers' market.
Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Prague
Why it made the list
In beautiful Mala Strana, eating by the river is a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Hergetova Cihelna is a well-liked modern European haunt, and then Kampa Park is a really special restaurant with lovely food (and regular celeb visitors) nearby.
Design Hotel Josef
Why it made the list
The Josef will set you up with a good (included) breakfast, but save space for a trip to the nearby retro butcher's shop, Naše maso, for lunch. Plus, almost next door to the property, there are two of Prague's best restaurants with dramatically different vibes: fancy and fantastic Michelin-starred La Degustation, and then the popular modern take on a traditional beer hall, Lokal.
