Train

Zagreb's main train station lies in the Lower Town, a 10-minute walk south from the main square of Ban Jelačić. There are regular international trains to and from Budapest (Hungary), Belgrade (Serbia), Ljubljana and Maribor (Slovenia), Munich (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Venice (Italy), Zürich (Switzerland), and beyond via easy connecting routes. From Zagreb there are multiple trains daily to Split in Dalmatia (6–8 hours) and to Rijeka in Kvarner (3½–4½ hours). The easiest way to get to Varaždin from Zagreb is by rail, with some 15 trains daily. Travel time is about 2½ hours and costs 65 Kn each way. About 15 trains run daily between Zagreb and Karlovac; you'll get there in just under an hour for a one-way fare of 37 Kn. If you don't have wheels, your best bet to reach Sisak is by rail for 34 Kn, with 15 trains daily from Zagreb that take just under an hour.
