Train Travel

The train is a great option for getting to and from Croatia, with direct international connections with Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Switzerland. However, within Croatia trains are typically slower than buses and there are far fewer of them. Many routes operate intermittently, particularly through the summer when fewer locals use the service, and less-used stations have fallen into disrepair. The bus is a better option along the coast, but if you're travelling around the mainland it’s worthwhile to compare both options, just in case the train timetable suits you better.
