Bus

Bus travel in Croatia is inexpensive, efficient, and the best way to travel long distances. You can reach even the smallest towns by public bus, while larger cities are connected by regular, comfortable, and usually air-conditioned coaches. On most routes you can purchase a ticket at the station or from the driver, but for the major routes (between Zagreb and the coast or between Dubrovnik and Split), it’s safer to buy tickets at least a few days in advance. Seating is assigned if you book in advance, but not if you buy your ticket on the spot; however, apart from fully booked buses, seat allocations are not usually adhered to. Carry some coins in case you have to pay to put luggage in the hold (about 7 Kn per bag) or for the washroom at the station.

GetByBus is an excellent resource for checking routes and timetables and buying tickets in advance. Flixbus is a German bus company that operates many routes to Croatia from abroad, and within Croatia, which can easily be booked online and combined with international bus passes.
