Occupying a 14th-century salt warehouse, Bota (part of the Šare family empire) is known for its menu of outstanding, locally caught seafood—it's the best place to try Ston's famous oysters. If raw oysters make you squeamish, try the pohane oštrige (oysters deep-fried in bread crumbs), and don't leave without trying the unusual stonski makaruli, a cake made from pasta, nuts, sugar, and cinnamon, unique to Ston. You can also arrange an oyster tasting by boat, where the waiters will pull the oysters right out of the water and crack them open in front of you.
