Boat and Ferry

From June through September, Jadrolinija, Croatia's largest boat transport company, usually runs services multiple times a week to Ancona, Italy, departing at 8 pm from Split and arriving in Ancona at 7 am the following day. The same vessels depart at 8 pm from Ancona to arrive in Split at 7 am. The journey time is approximately 11 hours in either direction. During winter, route frequency can be reduced. From April to October, Italian company SNAV runs services between Ancona and Split mutiple times a week as well. Departure times vary depending on the month and day of travel. The journey time is between nine and 13 hours in either direction.

Jadrolinija also operates domestic coastal routes that run all the way from Rijeka to Dubrovnik. Split has direct connections with Vis (journey time is approximately 150 minutes), Stari Grad on Hvar (journey time approximately 120 minutes), Hvar Town on Hvar (journey time approximately 100 minutes), Rogač on Šolta (journey time approximately 60 minutes), and Supetar on Brač (journey time approximately 60 minutes). From Sumartin on Brač, there's a daily, year-round (excluding some holidays) line with Makarska as well. Most Jadrolinija routes offer car transport too. Purchase your ticket online in advance whenever possible, especially during the high season when waiting until the last minute could mean waiting an extra day to travel.
