Fodor's Expert Review Monty Hotel
Blvd. Brand Whitlock 101, Brussels, Brussels Capital, B1200, Belgium
A stay here is like an overnight in a contemporary design showroom—albeit one with a strict budget. The first thing that will strike you is the full-size red fiberglass cow grazing out front. Inside, guest rooms have ingenious lighting, like winged lightbulbs by Ingo Maurer, Mario Bellini "Cuboglass" televisions, and gray-tiled bathrooms with Philippe Starck fittings. Sadly, most of the focus has gone on creating a good first impression, with less time spent keeping it pristine. Nevertheless, its warmth is demonstrated at breakfast, served at a friendly communal table. Three serviced apartments are available in a neighboring building for longer stays (minimum 1 week). The hotel is out of town but just a few steps from the Georges Henri underground tram stop, close to Montgomery.
