Fodor's Expert Review Rubenshof

Amerikalei 115-117, Antwerp, Flanders, 2000, Belgium

Once a cardinal's residence, this budget hotel shows remnants of its former glory with a mixture of turn-of-the-20th-century styles. The breakfast room, for instance, is a terrific example of the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style of the neighborhood. The hotel is owned by a friendly Belgian couple, and it's close to the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten. Rooms are simple, with wooden furniture and basic amenities, which is factored into the price. Those on the top floor are geared toward backpackers with shared facilities.
