Fodor's Review

Heiligenstadt is home to this heurige in one of Beethoven's former abodes; he composed his 6th Symphony, as well as parts of his 9th Symphony ("Ode to Joy") while staying in this part of town. The à la carte offerings and buffet are abundant, and include traditional Viennese dishes, such as Wiener Schnitzel and Tafelspitz (with roasted chive potatoes); goulash with chanterelle mushrooms, and dumplings with apricots, a regional specialty; the Riesling house wines are excellent. You'll find lots of Viennese among the tourists here.

Terrible experience!

Worse experience in Vienna ever. Had a reservation, were served a glass of wine and then waited and waited ... An hour (!) later still no one took our order. When we got up to leave and pay for the wine, they were surprised, especially the lousy manager who kept on ignoring us (busy doing what?). What kind of restaurant allows its guests to leave unserviced, disappointed, hungry and very sober??? Be warned...
