Fodor's Expert Review Pan e Vin

$$ The Altstadt Italian

This tiny trattoria has only a handful of tables but it offers some lovely Italian specialties. Feel the spirit of the city called the "Rome of the North" here: burnt-sienna walls are lined with wine bottles, colorful ceramic plates, and Italian dry stuffs, and the chef cooks in full view. The upstairs restaurant of the same name has a more extensive menu, but it's also much more expensive. Fish lovers will appreciate Azzurro, the recent addition to the Pan e Vin trio of restaurants in one building.
