Fodor's Review

Archduchess Magdelena, sister of Ferdinand II, founded the Damenstift Abbey, home of the silent order of Carmelite nuns, in 1567–69. The church front, with its four full-length fluted pilasters, is an example of the transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque style. Very few nuns remain, mostly elderly, but it is interesting to witness their silent and extensive devotions, and it's perfectly acceptable to do so.
