Haller Innbrucke 4, Ampass, Hall in Tirol, Tirol, A-6070, Austria
Fodor’s Expert Review
For a short stay, this gasthof can fit the bill at a budget price, offering a warm welcome and rooms that are sparkling clean, with all the comfort you need for an overnight or two. This is a prime example of how Austria proves time and again that you don't only get what you pay for—you often get a lot more. The now much-enlarged gasthof was originally built in 1676 as a public bathhouse with six bathrooms; its name means "the little bath house." Bathrooms were a rarity in private houses then and a visit here was, apparently, quite a luxury. Since the 19th century the Knapp-Steiner family has been extending hospitality to travelers.
- extremely friendly
- low prices and comfortable
- Close to a noisy autobahn, so take a room on the river side
