Fodor's Expert Review Hoteldorf Grüner Baum
Kötschachtal, Bad Gastein, Salzburg, A-5640, Austria
Well away from the center of town, in a remote and peaceful little 'secret' valley, the Gruner Baum feels like a tiny village in itself, made up of several buildings, amid meadows and woodlands. The guest list at this incredibly charming lodge has included Jude Law, the US ambassador to Austria Kathy Hall, the Shah of Iran, and Niki Lauda. The wood-paneled rooms have plenty of personality. Children are well looked after with a range of programs. The elegant restaurant has an excellent reputation both for its Austrian fare and its varied wine list. Plenty of kids' amenities and attractions include a petting zoo, kids' club, and bikes.
