Fodor's Expert Review Government House
One of the town's most elegant structures was built as a home for a Danish merchant in 1747. Today it houses offices and serves as the residence of the governor of the Virgin Islands. A sweeping staircase leads to a second-story ballroom, still used for official government functions. Out front, the traditional red Danish guard booth with its pointed top used to be a popular photo op, but it's now inaccessible to the public for security reasons.
