Fodor's Expert Review Sibonné Beach Hotel

Dwarfed by most of the nearby resorts, the smallest hotel on Grace Bay Beach has snug (by Provo's standards) but pleasant rooms with Bermudan-style balconies and a tiny circular pool that's hardly ever used since the hotel is right on the beach. Sibonne is undeniably the best value on Providenciales. As one of the first hotels built on Grace Bay, it is in a prime location, offering basic rooms with simple island decor, only steps from the water’s edge. Rooms on the second floor have airy, vaulted ceilings; downstair rooms have views of and access to the lovely courtyard garden, replete with palms, yellow elder, and exotic birdlife. The popular beachfront Bay Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Book early to get one of the two simple value rooms or the beachfront apartment; all three are usually reserved many months in advance.

There are five room categories to choose from. Three rooms entered directly through the courtyard that do not have outdoor seating, are the best value on Grace Bay. Guests may choose either a king configuration or two twins, or may join two for the perfect family accommodation. The next option includes a personal outdoor sitting area within the courtyard in addition to what the "value room" has to offer. Similar second-floor rooms offer easy access to the courtyard, beach, bar and restaurant below with perfect ocean views from their own balconies. There are also two oceanfront rooms with direct beach access. As their premier room, the hotel's beach apartment has great views up and down Grace Bay Beach from the second floor. Just steps from the beach, the apartment has a private terrace, screened dining porch, full kitchen, living-dining room and separate bedroom with king-sized bed. No matter the room, all have air conditioning, ceiling fans, cable TV, a mini-fridge, ice bucket, coffee-maker, direct-dial phones with data port, in-room safe, hairdryer, clock, iron and ironing board plus FREE Wi-fi.

As Sibonne was the first hotel completed on Grace Bay, the bathrooms are small, although clean and adequately equipped with single vanity and shower with curtain closure.

The hotel has more of a front desk for check-in purposes only. Staff is friendly and happy to answer any questions that guests may have during their stay. The hotel manager and front office staff are there to assist.

pool

Sibonne offers a small pool with unobstructed ocean views at the front of the property, perfect for a cool, freshwater dip.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Incredibly, this little pool has an oceanfront location to die for. Views are unobstructed.

spa

No spa on site. However, the Somerset is located immediately to the west of Sibonne, and offers one of the two Teona Spas on Grace Bay. In addition, The Palms Turks and Caicos is a short walk away, which boasts one of the most luxurious spas on island.

gym

Although there is no gym on site, there are several within walking distance at the Regent Village and Salt Mills Shopping Plaza that guests may take advantage of.

Bay Bistro offers breakfast, lunch and dinner on site. As one of Provo's premier dining options, Bay Bistro boasts a fabulous location with unprecedented sweeping views of the entire Grace Bay. Guests may choose to dine on the covered deck, elevated to enhance the view, or choose a beach-level terrace table. Through a nominal fee, dinner may also be served with your feet in the sand, table lit by tiki torch. This is definitely the way to go for that romantic dinner for two, or special occasion celebration. The chef melds the freshest of ingredients with classic dishes that offer that local twist. Winner of several "conch festival" awards, this restaurant is sure to please with such dishes as: conch wontons with hoisin dipping sauce, bitter cocoa seared tuna with a passion fruit, lime and mint dressing, or coconut crusted conch with a mango chutney and a light lemongrass/curry sauce. Of course, the meat-lovers can find such inclusions as a rack of lamb or boneless rib-eye steak. This is a local favourite, so booking ahead may be a good idea for those that are expecting that nice little restaurant attached to budget accommodation!
