Fodor's Expert Review Pikayo
Celebrity chef and Puerto Rico native Wilo Benet's flagship restaurant makes the most of its elegant surroundings at the Condado Plaza Hilton. Works from local artists line the walls, and the atmosphere is formal but never hushed. The menu offers a twist on traditional Puerto Rican classics as well as more international flavors. Choose from the thoughtfully crafted tasting menu or order à la carte. Of the large selection of starters, the pork-belly sliders, spicy tuna on crispy rice (known as pegao), and foie gras with ripe plantains and black-truffle honey are particularly good. Main course options include succulent petit duck magret with cremini mushrooms and a raspberry vinegar gastrique and North Atlantic swordfish in a pigeon pea escabeche with a ripe plantain emulsion. Don't be surprised if Benet stops by to make sure everything is to your liking.
