This sophisticated lounge is the ground floor of a lovely, white home that has some history. The tile floors put it in another era, and thus the name of its former restaurant, La Belle Epoque, which for decades was a gastronomic favorite on the island. The same owner, Martine, a charming, charismatic Frenchwoman came out of retirement to open instead what is primarily a cocktail lounge with world music and some food served. The house is her home (upstairs) and the neighborhood, Didier, is an upscale suburb of Fort-de-France, but close, not far from the Hotel Bateliere. It attracts the after-work crowd who live in the neighborhood, those staying at The Bat' and the small B&B La Maison de Clementine close by, and those savvy, older tourists who hear tell of it.
