Fodor's Expert Review Demontevin Lodge Hotel
21 Fort George St., Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica
On Titchfield Hill, this fine example of elegant 19th-century Victorian architecture has period decor and furnishings. The hotel recaptures some of the old-world charm that once brought the jet set to Port Antonio. In 1923 a guest who would become Queen Elizabeth II stayed in what is now appropriately called the Queen's Room.
- a taste of old Jamaica
- central location
- limited amenities beyond a modest restaurant
- some rooms share a bathroom
- in need of sprucing up as the property has become more like a museum
