Fodor's Expert Review Le Neem Bungalows

La Coulee rte. de la Pointe des Chateaux, St-François, Grande-Terre, 97118, Guadeloupe

This small resort keeps growing and getting better, offering a seven-person hot tub and saltwater swimming pool in addition to a petite restaurant; the chef/owner Joel Kichenin even offers creole cooking lessons. The three original bungalows have spicy names—Vanille, Safron, and Canela—but are simple and in pretty close proximity; two newer deluxe bungalows—Girofle and Muscade—offer more space, have sea views, small bar/kitchenettes, and are suitable for families. All the bungalows have handsome bathrooms, hammocks on the terrace, and an included continental breakfast. Joel, a respected island chef, prepares a fixed-price creole meal kicked off with a 'ti punch some nights; dinner is offered to guests (and nonguests if there is enough room). Weekly rentals are the norm now. Wi-Fi and parking are free, as is the shared use of the one bike and canoe.
