Fodor's Expert Review Hôtel La Cocoteraie

Av. de l'Europe, St-François, Grande-Terre, 97118, Guadeloupe

This boutique hotel's lobby, overlooking a glorious pool and with basket-weave rattan furnishings, is a study in refinement. The property faces a public beach, and the hotel's chaises are there and on a deck that looks over the semi-private, fenced-off section of the beach. Suites are furnished with contemporary furnishings, most in a light aqua–and-white color scheme with lots of linen and antique black-and-white photos of local scenes. All have tropically furnished living rooms, flat-screen TVs, dual free-form bathroom sinks, and patios. Rooms overlooking the impressive pool, which is spanned by a bridge and decorated with Asian urns, are well priced. Guests get a 10% discount at the St-François golf course. The in-house restaurant, La Varangue, and its Indigo beach bar are fun. Private, secure parking is a plus.
