Fodor's Expert Review The Puntacana Hotel
Puntacana Resort & Club, Playa Punta Cana, Punta Cana, San Juan, Dominican Republic
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
A plethora of amenities—not to mention meticulously kept grounds and world-class golf—await you at this charismatic resort, which spearheaded the area's tourism industry and has since kept pace with the times. All rooms, with dark-wood furnishings and Frette linens, have a balcony or terrace. Though guest rooms here are more simply decked out than at its high-end sister, Tortuga Bay (and priced that way), the shared access to all facilities of Puntacana Resort & Club make The Puntacana Hotel a good value. Specialty restaurants are decorated with chic detail. The Six Senses Spa is recommended. Zipping along the shore paths in a rented golf cart is a delightful way to get where you're going on the grounds, which house numerous attractions, and the resort also has a shuttle. Kids' club activities are expansive. Full trail rides, for kids and adults, depart from the stable, which also offers lessons. In the nearby Punta Cana Village you'll find a number of small and inexpensive restaurants, a bowling alley, and shops, and then there are the resort's legendary golf courses. Meal plans are available, and a generous breakfast buffet is included in the rates.
