Fodor's Expert Review Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino

The four gabled buildings of this downtown resort are painted in colors that seem to mirror those of Punda across the harbor and fit in perfectly with the historic surroundings. The resort complex is right in downtown Willemstad in the historic Rif Fort. There are numerous high-end shops within the complex, a multitude of eating places, and distractions galore, including the large Carnaval Casino. Rooms are large and bright and feature floor-to-ceiling windows—many rooms have great views of the ocean and the harbor. Lots of hotels now feature infinity pools, but the Renaissance has gone one better with a second-floor infinity pool complete with beach. This realistic white-sand beach (with palm trees and a beach bar) slopes into a saltwater pool that blends visually with the real ocean behind it.
