Fodor's Expert Review Mezza
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This elegant, earth-tone eatery takes its name from the Middle Eastern term for tapas. Just as striking splashes of color (scarlet and lime pillows, vibrant abstract artworks) play off each other, so do the intricate flavors. Witness such appetizers as flash-fried, wakame-rolled tuna roulade encrusted with Japanese bread crumbs, served with a sesame-infused soy sauce and honeyed wasabi, or hazelnut-thyme-encrusted Brie with strawberry-balsamic glaze. Splendid main courses range from pan-seared scallops served over Parmesan risotto with lemongrass foam to braised lamb shank in anise demi-glace. Many items are available for both lunch and dinner, though the former includes its own cheaper, equally creative lineup of wraps, salads, and more substantial fare. There's an extensive, smartly priced list of wines by the glass, and mellow live music most nights.
