Fodor's Expert Review Sunbury Plantation House and Museum
Lovingly rebuilt after a 1995 fire destroyed everything but the thick flint-and-stone walls of this 300-year-old great house, Sunbury offers an elegant glimpse of the 18th and 19th centuries on a Barbadian sugar estate. Period furniture, old prints, and a collection of horse-drawn carriages lend an air of authenticity. A buffet luncheon ($22.50 per person, $34 on Sunday) and high tea ($14) are served daily in the Courtyard Restaurant. A five-course candlelight dinner ($100 per person, including drinks, minimum 12 people, reservations required) is served at the 200-year-old mahogany table in the dining room.
