Bonafide Bonefishing. James "Docky" Smith is highly regarded as one of the best bonefishing guides in the Bahamas. He does full- and half-day bonefishing excursions, as well as reef-fishing trips. He is also an expert fly-casting instructor. Book well in advance. His operation is based out of the Bonafide tackle shop in Stella Maris, open three days a week, which rents conventional and fly-fishing gear, prepares snacks and box lunches, and sells a range of tackle, clothing, and flies. Full days of bonefishing are $500 (maximum two anglers); reef, bottom, or deep-sea fishing are $1,200 (maximum six anglers). Call ahead.
