Fodor's Expert Review Carubbian Festival
Every Thursday night in San Nicolas, the main streets of Aruba’s old refinery town that locals called Sunrise City come to life in a spectacular fashion with a mini-carnival called the Carubbian Festival. It’s a culture and heritage extravaganza featuring live music concerts, dancing shows, and even a big colorful parade finale where visitors are encouraged to fully participate. There are also arts and crafts stalls and food and drink kiosks that include local specialties set up for the occasion. There are activities planned for children as well. Festival runs from 6 pm to 10 pm. Sometimes it takes a break the last weeks of December for the holidays and resumes mid-January. A hotel bus package is a good idea as the roads at night are not lit, and navigation can be challenging.
