Fodor's Expert Review Siboney Beach Club
Dickenson Bay, St. John, Antigua and Barbuda Fodor's Choice
This affordable beachfront oasis nestled in a tranquil corner of Dickenson Bay delights with intimacy and warmth, and knowledgeable Aussie owner Tony Johnson gladly acts as a de facto tourist board. Cleverly designed suites have a small bedroom, Pullman-style kitchen with microwave, living area, and patio or balcony. Atmospheric accents like island CDs, painted gourds, antique maps, and driftwood wall hangings are counterpointed by modern touches (flat-screen TVs and raised glass-and-chrome basins). Still, many guests savor the natural sound system of soothing surf with harmonizing crickets, bananaquits, and tree frogs in Tony's extravagant, enchanted garden (where spa treatments are available). Rooms 9 and 10 overlook the sea, and ground-floor units represent fine buys for families—room 3 virtually extends into that lushly landscaped pool area.
