The romantic setting of Auberge Resort's revamped Malliouihana, on a promontory overlooking Meads Bay, sets the stage for a memorable meal. Chef Ortiz Cupertino's California influence is apparent in the farm-to-table approach; local farms provide fresh ingredients. Start with a creative rum cocktail, like a Chili Passion, infused with ginger and a touch of heat, while you study the menu and nibble hot house-made rolls. Starters feature light salads with local greens (the shaved artichoke is delicious). Dishes are creative, and vegetarians will find a larger than usual selection. Try the super-grain pasta with white truffles for a special treat. Locally bred goat is wonderful in a sausage, and a tasty braise, making the most of the tender, not-too-gamy meat.
