Fodor's Expert Review Tasty's
Once your eyes adjust to the quirky kiwi, lilac, and coral color scheme, you'll find that breakfast, lunch, tapas, or dinner at Tasty's is, well, very tasty. It's open all day, so if you land mid-afternoon starving, head here—it's near the airport and ferry terminal. Chef-owner Dale Carty trained at Malliouhana, and his careful, confident preparation bears the mark of French culinary training, but the menu is classic Caribbean with a creole edge. It's worth leaving the beach at lunch for the lobster salad. A velvety pumpkin soup garnished with roasted coconut shards is superb, as are the seared jerk tuna and the garlic-infused marinated conch salad. Don't be stuffy—try the goat stew. Yummy desserts end meals on a high note. This is one of few nonsmoking restaurants, so take your Cubans elsewhere. The popular Sunday brunch buffet features island specialties like saltfish cakes, and there is live music on Tuesday night.
